Help! I’m Afraid.

get out

The year was 2012, December precisely. I was on my way to Lagos for a friend’s wedding, the journey wasn’t convenient, but I had to be there. I was to be a bridesmaid at the wedding.

I set out on a Friday which unfortunately was a day when RCCG was holding their convention. Because of this programme there was a heavy traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

We arrived in Lagos at 7 pm, but we were at a spot for 3hours. When I discovered that this traffic wasn’t going to lessen, I decided to alight from the bus and find my way.

I checked my watch it was almost 11 pm, the streets were already getting empty, so I decided taking a cab was the best thing to do.

But I was scared; very scared.

I prayed and asked God to protect me, and with Faith I boarded a taxi straight to my friend’s house. She had given me an address and I felt it would be easy to locate.

My friend’s house was a very far distance that by the time we got to her area, it was already 12 am. I saw a house that I thought was my friend’s and told the taxi driver to drop me there.

He looked at me, as if to say, “are you sure”, but I was pretty confident and told him to go.

The place was extremely dark, there was no light neither were there street lights, and the houses were sparsely distributed with bushes all around.

I knocked at the gate of the house, but there was no answer. I knocked severally still no answer. After knocking for several more minutes and no one answered, it then occurred to me that I was at the wrong address.

It was then I knew I was in soup and unfortunately the taxi driver had gone.

Here I was in the middle of nowhere, past midnight, surrounded by bushes and darkness clutching a box and a handbag.

I felt like crying, I was so afraid. I didn’t know what to do. I called my friend and she told me where I was, was still a distance to her place.

In my panic, I started praying Lord I don’t mind been robbed but please let me not be raped.

A trailer passed me and the driver was looking at me weirdly, who wouldn’t, lol.

I prayed all manners of prayers, I told God I was ready to lose my bags, in fact everything but let me not be raped.

I called my friend again and she was describing how to get to her place, but I couldn’t figure it out because it was too dark. I just kept walking straight; she then told me they had put on the generator in their house, so any house I see with light, that’s her house.

I just kept walking like a zombie, until like Eureka, I found her, our other friends and her dad waiting outside her house.

It was such a relief. I had never been happier to see her than that day.

What I didn’t know was that they (her family & our friends) were afraid for me and they decided to pray. They had been praying until I showed up.

Funny thing, immediately I got to the house, my period which I wasn’t expecting started flowing. This goes to show how scared I was, lol. I can laugh about it now, but honestly that day, it wasn’t close to funny.

But guess what guys, from that day I have never been afraid of the dark. I can go out and come back anytime.

I always say to myself if I can survive that night, then I can survive any other night.

I could have been raped, it would have been too easy, after all it was dark, lonely and bushes all around, I could have been robbed, or kidnapped but God kept me.

When I went back home (Abuja), I didn’t tell any member of my family, what had happened.

Why am I sharing this story?

Because what you are going through now, could be preparing you for the future. The truth is, we don’t go through stuffs for nothing.

Don’t despise the challenges of today. Be patient enough to go through it, and learn, you will be better for it in the long run.

If you trust God enough, you will one day thank Him for the troubles you once faced.

Most times, challenges make us grow, make us better and more mature.

Our God is a fountain that never runs dry, if He saved you in times past, He can save you again and again. You just have to trust Him and not forget the miracles He has done before.

Are you afraid now? Are you in a dire situation desperately looking for help? Call on God, He never disappoints. He will save you today. And when He does, please don’t forget to share your testimony.

I appreciate you for reading. God bless you.

Please guys, my book on sexual purity will soon be out. It will be available to pre-order soon. Please get ready to show your girl some love.

Thank you.
