This past week while browsing through Instagram, I came across a question, a 22-year-old was asking. Dude was in a relationship and wants to start having sex but his girlfriend wants to keep her virginity until marriage. He was contemplating leaving the relationship so he could be free to have sex with other girls, he was asking for advice on what to do.
The answers shocked me honestly, he was told to enjoy his life now that he’s young, and have all the sex he wants to have. At first, I didn’t think too much about it, but yesterday I came across the below scripture and then I thought of writing this article.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NKJV), Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”.
This is an appeal to us, young people, to think carefully about our Creator, not merely to remember that he is there.
It’s easy for us to get carried away by our youthfulness to do whatever we like, but we are not our own we are the Lord’s.
We should seek God now in our earliest days, we are not meant to please ourselves, we are not meant to gratify the passions of the flesh; passions that seem will consume us, let’s use our energy and strength which we still have to serve God.
Remember you are God’s property, so serve Him from the start of your years, not the end of your years, when energy and strength are very limited.
The earlier a person comes to the Lord, the fewer problems he, or she, will have. Sometimes, I believe it is easier for the youth to come to the Lord than an old man.
When a person comes to the Lord at an early age, the Lord helps him through those difficult years, when the lust of the flesh is so great.
In our later years, it seems that the lusts connected with youth fade away. In each person’s life, there is an end. We all grow old and die.
Ecclesiastes 11:10 (NKJV), Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.
We think time is on our side, but you and I do not know the day we will die. Life is not yours to live as you like. Who knows if it’s in that sin, you will die?
I know that there probably has never been a time when youth has been subjected to more temptations and pressures to wrong living than today. Temptation is all around us, it is subtle, it is powerful. The appeal of the world and the flesh is constantly with us, turning thousands of young people away from the truth of God.
But I want to tell you this, young people: it will get worse the older you grow. The pressures to conform are greater as you move out into life and business; Evil pressures increase; that is one good reason to remember your Creator in the days of your youth.
Remember and serve God now before old age and the disease of old age catches up with you and you won’t have pleasure in anything again.
One thing I have learnt about life is that you can flex all you want, enjoy how you deem fit, but as long as you are not fulfilling the purpose for your creation, you will forever be empty. The deeper you go into sin, the more empty and desperate you will be and the cycle goes on. No form of worldly enjoyment can ever fill the void in your life. Only God can fill that void.
At the end of our lives, God will bring everything that we have done out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it is good or evil.
You are not your own, you have been bought with a price, so you cannot do what you like.
Life is not given to you to do as you like.
I appeal to us today, let’s use our youth to serve God, what will be your contribution when you are old to God’s Kingdom? Let’s take a look at the below scripture
2 Samuel 19:35 (AMP), I am this day eighty years old. Can I [be useful to advise you to] discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or drink? Can I still hear the voices of singing men and women? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?
Thank you all for reading, I hope you have blessed. Kindly do share your thoughts about this in the comment section, it will be great hearing from you all.
