On Saturday I was walking to my shoe repairer’s shop to collect my shoes that I would wear to an event, I was walking so fast because I was in a hurry to get back home that I didn’t notice her at first but then curiosity got the best of me and I looked at the lady walking beside me, she was walking so nonchalantly and at a millipede speed and I just kept wondering why.
She was far ahead of me, but because I was walking so fast, I was almost close to her. I figured let me slow down, but then watching her closely, it then occurred to me why she was walking so slow and carefree, she was looking for a bike (motorcycle) to take her to wherever she was going.
It was then it hit me that I cannot be walking at her pace because we were headed to different directions and we had different goals.
She wasn’t interested in walking, I was, she wasn’t in a hurry, I was; then why should her own steps determine mine?
You see in this journey of life, there would be distractions, there would be temptations, there would be things calling for your attention but for you to achieve what you’ve set to do, you must focus on your focus.
What is your focus? Whatever it is you’ve set to achieve, what takes your attention, your goal.
Everyone’s life journey is different, so you can’t let someone else’s actions determine yours, especially if your goals are different.
Be confident in your own walk, set your goals, and be determined to achieve them. Life will throw all sorts of things to destabilize you, to distract you, don’t yield to that temptation. Focus on your focus.
Don’t leave your lane to walk someone else’s path; you will end up frustrated and unhappy.
As for the girl, I was walking with, by the time I had gotten to my destination; she was still walking nonchalantly; looking for a bike.
Today is the start of a new week and we are right now in a new month; I know it’s almost the end of the year, but it is never too late to achieve your dreams.
I am rooting for you.
