Hello, everyone, I hope your day is going on well. Today I would like to talk about trust. I decided to write about this when I learned some salient things about trust. I was studying the book of Romans and I came across some deep truths about trust therein, so I decided to share.
First off, what is trust? According to the dictionary, trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.
In this write-up, I would like to focus on trusting God; I wouldn’t advise anyone to put their trust in man. Every man is fallible and moreover, the heart of man is desperately wicked. You may think you are friends with someone but you will be shocked when you know what the person truly thinks of you.
God is the only one you should put your trust in, this is what the bible says in Jeremiah 17:5 (NKJV), “Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.
But trusting God is easier said than done especially when the circumstances around you are not encouraging, especially when what you see doesn’t mirror your faith, especially when situations are going in the opposite direction of what God says. But that’s exactly what God calls us to do, to trust Him at all times.
Trusting God is easier when you take your eyes off the physical; take your eyes off what you can see. For example, you may be trusting God for money, but your bank balance is in the red, how do you trust God? Take your focus off your account balance and concentrate on what God says.
One major thing that makes trusting God difficult, is when we have no “Word”. What do I mean by that? When we have no Word from God to base our faith on, when there’s no basis or foundation from scripture or His spoken word, trusting and believing God is difficult.
The irony of it all is that except you trust God, you would be unable to get anything from Him. I know this may lead to some confusion on the difference between Faith and Trust. In the context of this article, they are the same. But when it comes to secular matters or issues, I don’t think they can be used interchangeably.
The fulfillment of God’s promise depends entirely on trusting God and his way, and then simply embracing him and what he does.
When you are trusting God for a particular issue, go to Him first and get what He has to say about that issue. This is important because you need a solid foundation on which to base that faith, you can’t trust blindly; because when the storms of life come you will need a solid base on which to stand on. Moreover getting a word from God is important so that you can always go back to Him with His word.
Events that can discourage you would come; you will most times want to give up, sometimes it would feel like God has forgotten you but He hasn’t; as long as he has said He would do it, just be rest assured that He would. God has never failed and He’s not going to start with you.
Today I encourage you to Trust God too much to give up.
