“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:1314 KJV

A major struggle for many is letting go of the past. Some don’t let go for good reasons, others don’t for painful and disheartening reasons. Whatever the reason is, you must move beyond it. It is alright to reflect once in a while so that you can evaluate your journey in life but don’t dwell there.

All your stories of success can prevent you from writing new ones. All the experiences of disappointments, rejection and hurt will only make you live like a trapped or caged animal, existing but not reaching your full potential. The past must never be an escape route or an excuse for present behaviour because we are given new mercies by God every day. His goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives. So if you must look back, let it be an opportunity to remind yourself of His faithfulness to you. This should now be a spring board for moving to the next level.

You have to move beyond your mistakes, failures, success, and victories, for there is much more to you and for you than that. God does not delight in wastes. Don’t waste your present dwelling on your past. You can start over, you can write a new story, sing a new song. It’s time to be an architect not an archaeologist. Take a look at this scripture and think on it today;

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert”. Isaiah 43:1819 (KJV)

Today is a gift; don’t let it go to waste.
