Colossians 3:1-2(NIV) “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
The believer is called to a lifestyle of gratitude. One in which you are constantly grateful for all; that God admits that all He has, comes from our source.
The reason why a lot of people are not thankful today is because they are prone to forget God’s goodness over them. Once you are able to think about all that God has done in and through you then gratitude comes forth naturally.
Psalm 103:1-2, (KJV) “Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not his benefits”
The attitude of gratitude is the lifestyle of the believer. It does not matter the situations around us our King commands that in all things we should give thanks.
1st Thessalonians 5:16-17(NIV), “Rejoice always, pray continually, giving thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus”.
Don’t live a life of murmuring and complaining. It is the language of slaves and it does not change the situation. It only shuts down heaven’s resources towards you. In Numbers 14, the children of Israel murmured and complained when they faced adversity and because of that God did not allow them enter into the land of promise.
As citizens of God’s Kingdom, ours is a lifestyle of gratitude irrespective of whatever life brings, there is always a reason to give God Praise.
Are you facing some situations that seem to be beyond you? Take it to God in prayer with thanksgiving.
Philippians 4:6-7(NIV), “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”.
And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.
Let your lifestyle be one that is constantly giving thanks unto God, irrespective of what is going on around you because the scriptures commands it and also because it is a good thing.
Psalm 92: 1(KJV), “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto thy name O most high”.
Our God is a good God and His mercies endures forever, let that be your reality as you go through the day giving thanks for his goodness over your life. You may not be where you want to be yet but just take a look at where God brought you from and you will indeed burst out in gratitude.
1st Chronicles 16:34(NIV) “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever”.
Today is a gift; don’t let it go to waste.
